Community Relations
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is committed to establishing close ties with and responding to the needs of the community as well as the development and perpetuation of community crime prevention programs. The Sheriff’s Office shall effect community relations and crime prevention activities as needed in an effort to reach a reasonable balance between reactive and proactive functions.

DWI Enforcement
The primary objective of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Alcohol Enforcement Program is to reduce alcohol and/or drug related traffic offenses by fielding units that are specially trained and equipped to apprehend and process alcohol or drug-impaired drivers.

K9 Unit
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will utilize authorized canines to support in enforcement efforts along with subsidizing in searches of lost or missing persons. The canines shall be specially trained in all or any combination of suspect apprehension, searching for lost/missing persons and narcotics detection.

School Resource Officers
The School Resource Officer Program in Jefferson County is a grant funded program, and is operated as cooperative effort between the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the school districts.

SWAT
Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) shall provide the citizens of Jefferson County with a highly trained,versatile unit, available on a 24 hours a day basis, capable of safely and successfully resolving a variety of situations.

Traffic Enforcement
The primary role of traffic officers is traffic safety. They are responsible for conducting selective traffic enforcement of traffic laws and investigation into the contributing circumstances to traffic accidents in Jefferson County.
